The game is white. No, I'm not kidding.

Yeah, so I finally decided to buy the game, and the in-game canal arrival opening sequence (helicopter passes overhead, 1939 is mentioned, etc) is completely white. I see them little drops of water, but everything else is just white.

Everything after that SEEMS to look good, except parts of the game's architecture are also completely white. Not all of it, but a good part.

NVidia GeForce 285, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.

The game is notorious for requiring rolling back to really old video drivers in order to work properly. This is probably the weirdness you're seeing.

If you can track down the 169.04 drivers, they may solve your issue.
