Flags missing\black
Just like in this picture - http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...-Flags-Missing
The problem is, I don't have any mods installed so that thread doesn't help me. Any clues? |

Same problem here. I just downloaded EU3 night before last and get nothing but the same black flags.

+1 black flags for me too!
Think I've always had black flags and that's why I've never played this game for more than 5 minutes. Please fix this issue! I'm using EU3 and Divine Wind. |

For some people on the Paradox forums this worked:
Go to Steam\steamapps\common\EUIII You can just delete the gfx/flags/flagfiles.dds and gfx/flags/flagfiles.txt files and it should work. (I'd say backup or just rename the files just in case) |

That doesn't work but thank you for posting something that I could attempt.
I deleted both flagfiles.txt and .dss but it made no difference. I did this several times as it seems that these 2 files seem to 'regenerate' each time the game is loaded. Is there anything else that can be done? |

Did you try verifying the integrity of your game cache? It worked for me.

I did delete every file in the cache folder and tried once again.
O guess now my only resort is to raise hell with STEAM about selling a corrupted game and refusing to buy any more games from them - there are many other alternatives, gamersgate and others are viable alternatives to steam. Since steam doesn't seem to care, why not use their toll-free number to complain incessantly, post here about their negligence to address this issue, and abandon steam for its competitors. No fix, no attention, no business. |

I had this. Deleted the DDS file mentioned previously, disabled multiple monitors and went back to single monitor, launched game, saw DDS file recreated, flags fine, closed game, re-enabled multiple monitors, relaunched game, flags still fine.
Seems to be a combination of that file and certain settings on the graphics drivers. |

After several uninstalls and following directions here, it seems that snootyjim has the fix.
- Delete the flag.dds file and flag.txt file - Delete all files in the cache - Disable multiple monitors Only when I did all 3 did the game run and the flags work normally. Thanks to all who offered help. |

Im having this same problem. I also run multiple monitors. I'm gonna be really angry if I need to turn off my second monitor every time I play this game on Steam.

I've read that running in windowed mode may help, but I can't seem to locate that option. Any suggestions? I've already tried alt-enter to swap modes.

Anyone who can't get the posted fixes to work here should start a fresh thread over in the EU3 Tech Support forums, we will certainly be able to fix your problem there.
The game is not corrupted, it works fine. This is a trivial problem to fix. |

I'm not aware this is necessary for this problem, I've fixed this problem for many many people without this.

You have to manually edit settings.txt, it should be self-evident in there. But that shouldn't be necessary to fix this problem.
