The Tavern Password?

Hey guys, hopefully someone will reply with the answer I'm looking for...

I'm a big fan of Arx Fatalis and have been playing it a lot recently, but after I talked to the goblin in the tavern ( Posius? ) I went to the door that needs the password and I still can't get in.

I've heard of some sort of glitch that if you lock pick the door earlier on in the game then it's impossible to obtain the password, but I have never even lock picked anything in the game before yet I still can't get in.

Is there more to it? Is there something I'm doing wrong? What?

Anyway, apart from the major amount of glitches this game disserves my thumbs up.
