map piece on phatt island

on monkey island 2 im in the cottage on phatt island, i can get through the trap door but i keep sliding back outside the cave, how do i stop my self from just sliding straight outside? any help would be much appreciated

you'll need to push on a specific brick. find a way to determine which one

Partial *spoiler*: it has something to do with the statue, and something missing inside the hut.
