Game runs awfully

My system is no slouch (Core i7 860/gtx480/16 gigs) but this game runs horribly, with lots of terrible slowdown in 1080p highest settings. Any console port or FPS like hard reset for the most part runs 1080p, often in the highest graphical settings with antialiasing, usually at 60 fps or higher, but this simple 2d game slows my system to a crawl? Please learn how to program and fix the game?

Sorry to hear that. Can you try the game at 1280x720 with no more than 2x AA and let us know how that runs please?

The game is fun but the slowdown ruins it. Any ETA of an update?

We're testing a new build as we speak. We need to confirm it actually works. Once we've done more initial tests, we'll experiment on you guys!

Sorry about the issues. We really appreciate your patience. Thanks.

Running GTX460, 1280x720, no AA
Phenom II 945
2x2GB DDR3

Game runs fine until a couple of enemies dies, and then the framerate begins to drop quickly, seemingly for no reason.

Thumbs up you guys fixed it.

So it looks like the latest patch fixed my performance issues. I couldn't understand why a PC with almost 4 times the power as my old Pentium 3 was running astro tripper like crap, when my old Pentium would run the game flawlessly.

The game was unplayable at 1080p before the patch, but i'm glad you guys fixed it. I'm one of the original customers that bought this game almost a decade ago it's nice to play this on my TV now with a wireless controller.

Cheers!

Arachnophobia level is better now, but lag shows up in other levels like the Fat Tank boss (when there are explosions around). After that, lag stays even in the next level. Please fix this, the game is otherwise very good.

the game still runs pretty badly on my machine.. its playable but pretty annoying. I can't even run the first level on a stable 40 fps

Same for me, runs ok, but after a few enemies, slows down and makes it impossible to play.
I'm quite disappointed. Any way to fix this?
Btw, im on core2duo with a 9600M..

cheers

The game runs pretty choppy for me as well. Lowering the resolution seems to improve things but changing the other graphical options appears to have no effect.

It's not so bad that it's unplayable - I was able to finish the game on easy - but I'd be better at the game if the framerate was smoother.

Astro Tripper runs very well!

i7
16 GB
nvidia gtx 570

What do the settings in config.cfg mean?

#console
language -1.000000
main_window_x 0.000000
main_window_y 0.000000
sound_sfxvol 1.000000
sound_musicvol 1.000000
render_doglare 1.000000
render_resolution -1.000000
render_sync 1.000000
render_msaa 0.000000
render_particles 1.000000
render_shaderversion 2.000000
render_fullscreen 1.000000

is the setting render_msaa 0.000000 correct?

regards :-)

If I need a 570 to get this game running smoothly, then something is wrong.

You are right :-)

I don't think a gtx 570 is needed. But what is the reason this
giga great game works not on all newer pc's?

Will we get a new patch or update in the next time?

regards

Randolf

We're sorry this game has had so many performance issues,=. We have been beavering away trying to get of the bottom of it. We've managed to sort out the performance on many PC's but clearly there are problems still.

We have not given up... we are just finding it difficult fixing the issue.
