To clarify:

Gothic 3 = Gothic 3 and is very buggy unless you install the community patch 1.74 found Here

There is also an ini tweak that can improve the graphics dramatically if you have the machine to do it Here Note that there are streaming issues and hiccups are normal when moving around the world

Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced edition = The expansion to Gothic 3 story wise but does not need Gothic 3 to play , nor does it have any of the content of Gothic 3. The enhanced part is the equivalent of the community patch for Gothic 3. It was originally released nearly unplayable due to bugs and stability issues, now with the enhanced edition those bugs and issues are mostly gone.

To get the most out of your playing experience I recommend both gothic 3 and the expansion.

Also to note is that if you do like these games, Gothic 4 doesn't really play the same at all but gothic 2 is considered the best of the series by most.

Then its not an traditional expansion, which is what I was trying to get across. Almost any expansion I ever seen is in ADDITION to the game, you play through as a streamlined play.

Unless I'm mistaken, you're saying that two of the most popular gaming cards can't be used?

IIRC you can't setup profiles for the games.

Saying to go into your driver settings and disable the nvidia or ati set profiles (as they're usually automatically set to run as they are 'known' optimisations)..

Hi,

I need support.
I bought the "Enhanced Edition" of "Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods" via Steam, but I cannot start a "New Game".
When I click "New Game" in the mainmenu, the game asks me, if I'm sure, that I want to start a "New Game".
I click "Yes" and the in-game-question-window is getting closed again, but no "New Game" is starting. Instead I'm still in the mainmenu.

My problem is, that I cannot start a "New Game".

Please help me.

Phakara,

Try verifying your game cache by right clicking the game in Steams library and going to "properties", got to the "local files" tab and click on the verify game cache option.

Seems like an odd bug.

Thank you for loading up this savegame, but in the end even that didn't work. I finally bought the game in a store and upgraded it with the new community-patch. That worked!
