Rusty Hearts is a multiplayer online game with fast-paced and highly-stylized brawling combat combined with a solo or team-based dungeon exploration experience.

As an MMO there are ton of quests, skills and weapons to earn and learn. Besides just being an awesome hack n’ slash MMO, we’ve also got a variety of events lined up for players that come in and join the game.

Rusty Hearts FAQ

Is it melee only characters or is there ranged/magic users?

There's a little bit of both. Some characters use use melee, but there is a ranged element of attacks where you can hit enemies from short distances with certain skills. We do have a full ranged character coming out soon that has guns!

Can you only play so far before having to buy the game?

The game is entirely free to play, the cash shop will help you get to where you want to be a bit faster, but players that don't purchase items can be just as competitive.

Can you only enter so many lvls a day?

You can enter as many dungeons, complete as many quests and PVP as much as you would like at any given time.

Stamina limitations were removed from Rusty Hearts when we launched our Open beta. We are still in the process of removing some of the loading interstitial tips, but please ignore them for the time being.

Is there PVP?

Yes! We're really excited to get players hands-on with the PVP system. It's fully playable and we're working hard on making it better. PVP is where the game really shines and is the most fun. PVP will let you play to your level and/or with your friends.

Are there big dive deep dungon lvls or mini room areas?

There are some side quests that you can explore in dungeons, but the primary focus of RH is fun. This is a full fledged hack n' slash MMO and we want players engaged in action as much as possible.

Do you have to register on sight to play and give info (like e-mail) or is it steam connected?

The game is launched through Steam and you will receive in-game mail while the game is launched. You will however, have to create a Perfect World Entertainment account in addition to your steam account. This new account will be used to register you in our database so we can award prizes and check stats.

Since this is Open Beta, will my data be erased when the game is fully released?
Nope, all your saved game data and item purchases will be intact and ready for you when the game officially launches. If you were worried about losing items that were purchased, please don't. If you encoutner any issues with lost purchased items for any reason, you can contact us by going HERE

I'm on Windows Xp and I can't launch the game

If you have trouble getting the game to run from inside Steam, you may need to restart your PC and try again.

If prefer not to reboot you can go to the C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rusty hearts folder and run the Clientlauncher.exe with Steam running in the background.

Some XP users may have this issue

Can I use a gamepad to play Rusty Hearts?

You absolutely can! We support a number of gamepads and we're working on an integrated remapping system that will let you customize the controls in game. For now you can find out how to remap the controls by reading this blog post HERE

I'm having technical issues that haven't been resolved even though I've already searched and troubleshooted the issue, what now?

You can get direct assistance by heading over to support.perfectworld.com , they will guide you through the technical help process.

Quick Tips:

At your discretion, please disable any Antivirus software that may prevent the game client from communicating with our servers.

Please also disable any other program/firewall that shapes your connection. We've seen a few players successfully launch the game after disabling MSI Afterburner.

What is the name of the soundtrack featured in the Rusty Hearts E3 trailer and in the Open beta launch trailer?

The song is called "The End" by an artist called Hyper. It's pretty sick, right?

The game crashes after selecting a world to play in, what should I do?

Please reboot your PC before playing Rusty Hearts. There is an issue that causes the client to crash if you don't reboot your PC and reload Steam.

Some mention should be made about the anti-hack software X-Trap used, since some people avoid programs like it and GameGuard for potential rootkit-like behavior.

This is great! I was planning on downloading this game a day before you guys popped it out on Steam but I got preoccupied. Thumbs up for nice timing! i'm definitly giving this a shot now!

xtrap made norton go nuts and spybot as well. it also lagged the hell out of my system. its just as bad as punk buster. if you guys want to prevent hacking, use V.A.C. like steam does.

VAC only works on games running through Steamworks that have similar engines.

Norton's just unreliable too.

After playing Borderlands a bunch with a bud (I love co-op!), I've been trying to find a PSO type (but not really PSO, if that makes sense) game that we could play. Then BAM, Rusty Hearts shows up on my Steam store and I try it out and I really dig it! Not one to play these freemium or whatever they're called games but this one is really tickling my fancy!

Basically, thank you for this game and can't wait to figure out more about it! I love playing a game where not everyone knows what to do and goes online for quick answers instead of just exploring and enjoying the game.

I started up the game on my XP rig, and after a while the X-Trap software complained that it was incompatible with D3DOverrider! Sorry, but D3DO is more important than some random anti-cheat system to me, so I uninstalled the whole game. I'm now reinstalling it to see if that does anything.

A question to add to this FAQ: What is the name of the soundtrack featured in the Rusty Hearts E3 trailer and in the Open beta launch trailer? (You can watch both of those on the Steam store page).

I believe they're both the same song, where the Open Beta trailer has an instrumental version of it.

Could you please post the name of the song, a link, or a location in the game folder containing this song?
