Black screen/can't see menu/can't see puzzle? Solution here =)

Hey! I downloaded Puzzle Agent as part of the TellTales pack that is on offer at the moment until the 10th July. It downloaded & when I went to play it, something was obviously wrong. I scoured the forums looking for a solution & found nothing so decided to try the process I went through when I had graphical problems with Tropico 3.

The steps:

Go to 'Library' (In your Steam application)
Right click on Puzzle Agent & select 'Properties'
Go to the third tab named 'Local Files'
Click on 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'

Sometimes it will come with the 'please close down all game content' or something similar. Bring up your task manager & find the 'GameOverlayUI.eve*32' & end that process.
You'll be able to verify your game now.

Your game should now work without a reboot of your laptop/PC but it never hurts to do so.

P.S Apologies if this solution has been written before or well known by regular Steam users. I am new here and new to Steam so thought it would be helpful to other newcomers

Thanks for the tip! This will probably be the first thing I should try if a game ever acts strangely after I finish downloading it.

Game is still bugging out with the black screens/not seeing menu stuff. Verified the cache but got nothing..

Same problem here. Alt-Tab switch it to windowed mode but is doesn't help much.

Can anyone having problems provide their graphics card make and model, and what operating system they're on?

Also, make sure that you:
* Update your graphics card drivers (or use Software Update on Mac)
* [Windows only] Download and repair/reinstall DirectX. Seriously, please do this.

LOL - UPDATE.
I have installed DirectX for the game folder and rebooted the computer.
It works!!!
