I have wanted to pick this game up for 4 years!

BUT IT NEVER GOES ON SALE!

It's a great game but the steam price is too high.

You can get it from GOG for the regular price of $5.99 and it will be DRM free.
If you wait for a sale, you can get it for $2.99.

Even at the unfairly high Steam price of 10€ it's worth every penny.

But does the steam version have multiplayer? It only says singleplay, though it can be played mp, used to.

Shiny entertainment doesn't exist anymore and no one who worked on the original game works at Double Helix. Not only that, but Double Helix essentially has no plans on updating the game or sequelling it in any way, or basically using the IP at all except to let it sit there. They won't even release the source code for us, even though it is doing nothing for them.

Basically what I'm saying is do what you need to do to play the game. With or without spending money.
