A Pay What You Want system?

Although I'm unsure if anyone will use it, do you think that the Steam store should allow developers to have a "Pay what you want" sale on their games? I feel that having this system would allow newer developers to help their games get some degree of exposure. Of course, I imagine that devs would need a minimum price should they opt in on a pay-what-you-want sale.

That's a great idea, I was thinking about that too, just to get rid of your few Walletcents you probably will never use

Know of any business that allows customers to pay what they feel like?
I seriously doubt any would ever allow this.

Minimum price... pay what you want... what?

Also, horrible idea. This would just lure all those greedy pinkhearts out of their caves, make them buy 150 copies of a game for x monies each and later trade them for huge profit.

This would hurt the devs more than it would benefit them. Publicity is a good thing for a game developer, but it's rather meaningless when it doesn't come with atleast a bit of profit. A PWYW-system would drop the value of a game to an alarming low for an unforseeable period of time.

Setting a minimum price would also be pretty pointless because most daily deals for example are already 50%, 66% or 75% off, which wouldn't exactly rip a whole into people's wallets anyway.

Indie Royale made the average donation the minimum you were allowed to pay.
