Unexpected crash
I began this awesome game a few days ago, and now seems like I cannot continue with it. Everytime I try to load my current savefiles, it crashes and kicks me out to desktop, with the following message:
"An internal error has occurred. Please note down the following information. If the problem persists, post the details on the AGS Technical Forum (ACI version 3.21.1115) Error: wrong script module count; cannot restore game". So far I've tried verifying cache files and uninstalling-reinstalling, and nothing works so far. Someone to help me? Thank you very much. |

Hey, this is a problem caused by the game's recent automatic update. If you look at this forum's thread entitled "Update 204 mb?" you'll see that others have had this issue too. It happened to me as well and I'm really close to the end. I think you're supposed to email the WadgetEye poster (I'm assuming it's Dave Gilbert) who'll send you a version of the game that's compatible with your save files.

I had this problem too, so I emailed Wadjet Eye's support and was sent the old version of the game, which is compatible with my old saves.

Hi everyone! Publisher guy here. In giving out the old build of the game, it appears that not every computer handles savegames in the same way. So here's what I am going to do instead. I'm going to play through the game and make a bunch of saves throughout, and distribute those instead. Stay tuned.

Sorry for the double post, but I've played through the game and made a bunch of save files. You can nab them HERE. Just unzip them where-ever your savegame files are stores.
By default it is either: c:\program files\Steam\steamapps\common\gemini rue\Saves or c:\program files\Steam\steamapps\common\gemini rue\relists\Saves This should hopefully cover everybody. Sorry again for this problem! -Dave |

This is ridiculous. I'd much rather play *my saves*. Can't you have a dev write a converter?
EDIT: Your saves don't even work. Awesome.. Last edited by psyced: 12-23-2011 at 10:02 AM. |

Again, we're sorry about this. A converter is impossible, as we used a third party engine to make the game and we are bound by that engine's restrictions. Incompatible savefiles between versions is, unfortunately, one of them. -Dave Edit: You could also be running the game at unusual settings, which are not compatible with the versions I uploaded. Did you make any chances using the WINSETUP.EXE file? |

Mmm...ok I've downloaded the new files, and they at least load. However I'm experiencing problems with popup text. They disappear as soon as they are shown...do you think I could redownload and reinstall the game to make my previous savegames work?
EDIT: ok, that seemed to be just an occasional problem. I reinstalled the game and everything worked fine. Thanks for the savegames, though I feel a bit sad about mine :P Last edited by macco: 01-22-2012 at 06:36 AM. |
