Unreal Gold freeze my PC

I'm on laptop hp dv6 with core quad i7 and ati 6770. I'm playing it for a while and then it freezes. Have to hardreboot my laptop.

Why it is so? Any fix?

I'm on 64bit windows 7

get the latest unofficial multimedia patches (for D3D/OpenGL) and make sure you set the game on single core (set affinity). There're tons of softwares out here that do this. Google it.

Also do you buy UT99 aswell?

If you do, you can actually run both Unreal 1 original and return to na pali with UT99 engine instead. Google Oldschool Amp'd mod and Return to Na Pali Ultimate Edition.
