Game crashes at start up

Only just recently purchased Episode 1 as it's been years since I played Half Life 2.

I've never had a problem playing Half Life 2 offline and online but when ever attempting to play Episode 1 after the first few cut scene's (as soon as Dog finds my self under rubble) the game will freeze up and in a few seconds crash my computer forcing me to turn the system off and then back on

My System is as follows

Packard Bell iXtreme M3730
Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition 6.1.7601
2x Intel Pentium III Xeon, 2500 MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 320
4.00GB RAM

Can't understand what the problem is, although I'm reading a'lot of people having problems using Windows 7 and a'lot of people not having problems with Windows 7

Do you get an error message or sound?
Does this ever happen in other games?
Might be overheat... I would try to lower down video settigns.

This doesn't happen with any other game. No sound just the game freezes up and goes to a black screen, the only sound really is the game sound stuttering

I receive this message with details of the problem from Windows after restart, If it's any help...

I usualy just google what windows says.
