I'm not gaining any renown from battles

I'm fighting small groups of bandits by myself to gain renown. The pre-battle message says I shoud gain (e.g.) 4 renown for the battle, but at the end it doesn't mention any renown gain and upon checking the reports I see that my renown hasn't changed at all.

Has aynone else experienced this?

Yes, i have the same thing. I've never managed to get my renown higher then 2100 because of this and small autoreduction.

It's a feature of Native where it is more difficult to gain reknown as you get more and more "famous". It is not a bug, but can be changed with MBTWeak I believe.

So I'm too obscure to command a decently large army, but I'm too famous to be allowed more fame.

Great.

What is a decently large army? You should be able to command an army of at least 130 troops without much trouble. I don't play Native much but 180 seems possible with good leadership. That should be a decently large army especially since you can field mostly elite high tier troops while the computer AI will always have lower tier troops mixed in.

You are not supposed to be able to conquer the world alone. Yes you'll probably need help fighting sieges and when facing combined armies of enemies. That's when your own lords come in.

I seem to be stalled at 93. I may have to go back and see if I can gain renown from 10-15 difficulty battles, but if the game is gonna knock 3 or 4 renown off every time it's gonna be a very long, boring slog.

Go solo. AND make sure you actually kill them. One part of the game mechanic is you get no renown rewards for those that rout. I'd get in large battles (me versus 40-50 mounted bandits) and only get credit for the dozen or so I actually kill. Another reason why I like the Sea Raiders... no horsies so they can't get away that easily ^-^.

For anyone who's having the same problems, increasing the difficulty helped me start getting renwon again.
