We are performing maintenance on several Steam backend servers this afternoon; Affected servers will be down from a few seconds to ~2 minutes which could result in brief outages to chat, game lobbies, and the community web site for subsets of Steam users. Content downloads and game play should not be affected.

I apologize for the short notice - this maintenance is already in progress and will last until approximately 17:00PST (GMT-8).

We'll be updating some of the Steam servers Tuesday January 31th, 2011 around 16:00 PST (GMT-8). Chat, game lobbies, and the community web site will be affected. Content downloads and game play should not be affected. Downtime is expected to be short.

We're investigating issues with the web servers that run Steam Community. The site may be intermittently available during that time.

We're currently experiencing unexpected downtime that started around 10:30 PST (GMT-8). We're working on getting everything running again as soon as possible.

Update: Our data center's uninterruptible power supplies experienced a power failure. The power is back on now and we're working to get service restored as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We have made significant progress restoring availability, and service should return to normal soon.

We are up and running at a normal user load. There are a couple of lingering issues which we will continue to work on until they are sorted.

As of about 1630 yesterday, we've been running smoothly. We will be working with our hosting provider to investigate the root cause of the power availability issue, and have already replaced the failed hardware.

Prima eGuides are currently down (Steam users receive an internal error) and Prima Games is working to resolve the issue.

We will update once the issue is resolved.

The Prima eGuide issue has been resolved and you should now be able to access your guides again.
