X-Com Interceptor fix

For anyone who's interested there is a fix for jammers and bases not appearing. Search for "X-com interceptor XP fix". You will find it in filestube.com

Put the file on your steam game folder and use it to launch the game. It works on vista and windows 7 too although the name is XP.

THIS SHOULD BE STICKED since the game is barely playable without researching alien drones and Steam says it works on vista (with it does not without this)

Sorry for being stupid (my computer skills are VERY low) but how does this work?!

I have the stupid alien drone next to my base and can't attack it, been looking for fixes and found this thread.
I have downloaded the link, unpacked it to the folder where the rest of my games bought on steam is located, but when I press play, the game does not start?!

PLEASE HELP! Never finished Interceptor and would really like to!

Here's how I got it to work...
1) get the file
2) unpack the .rar (you might need an application for this)
3) put the files in the game directory (on my box this is c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\xcom interceptor
4) open steam
5) got to library
6) drop the 'games' menu to 'add a non-steam game to my library'
7) browse to the 'interceptor_xp.exe' file that you put in the above directory
8) click on the Interceptor_xp in your library
9) click on play!

This is the wrong fix, man! It's for version 1.0. Here is the correct fix for 1.2: http://ifolder.ru/21747898 (on this site, click on the word "сюда", then any link and wait for countdown to get to the download link)
It includes two exes, but you don't need the Russian one.

You can use the open-source download tool JDownloader for ifolder.ru.

To use the file replace the existing Interceptor.exe with the new one.

I think the patched Interceptor.exe will only work for the English (and Russian) version of the game.
If you you do not have the current Steam version 1.2 of the game you can try to reinstall the game:
rightclick game -> delete local content -> and reinstall.

Another way of getting rid of alien jammer probes is take another person or two with you and order them to destroy it for you.

I am bumping this because it totally solves the probe crashing issue on Win 7 64bit. Although there is still the occasional game crash error happening a few times, I have learnt to save regularly, and it does not happen often to me.

Looking forward to trying out my new Speedlink Blackwidow joystick that is in the post.
