Steam Version of Blue Shift is not like the WON Version and that makes people cry.
Hello anyone who comes across this post.
When I got Half Life: Blue Shift, I thought there were no problems with it. After I completed the game and started toying with the game and also saw what the WON version was like, I was a bit dissapointed how Valve ported the Steam version. ![]() I had found the following errors:
Is there a way on enabling the custom content and changing the HUD on the Steam version without resorting to mods like BSUnlocked? Cheers ![]() evapour Last edited by evapour: 02-25-2012 at 01:43 PM. |

No, don't pirate, instead download Blue Shift Unlocked:
http://www.moddb.com/games/half-life...t-unlocked-v11 This is a patch for Steam version. It fixes your errors (custom content and HUD). Technically it runs as a mod for Half-Life. |

I've heard of BSUnlocked but I don't really like the idea of a mod that replicates a full game.
That is resorting to mods. How about modding the Steam version's game files? There must be something in there that can be edited...

The reason I set up this talkboard is that BSUnlocked is the only answer I find on the talkboards. so I wondered that there was another way on enabling the custom content by modifying the client files.
I did say at the start 'without resorting to mods'. Last edited by evapour: 04-07-2012 at 03:14 PM. |

1) What's wrong with mods?
2) You can't mod a game "without resorting to mods". Question makes no sense. |

I don't understand you,I mean you could just uninstall the original blue shift and use the mod,fi you don't want blue shift twice in you library,it's not like this game has achievements.
Or do you need to know your playtime that desperately? |

![]() Besides I wouldn't want people who have just bought Blue Shift on Steam to download files to sort their problems. On another note, I have contacted Steam Support about the issue asking if they are going to release more updates. EDIT: Finally got a reply. It just said 'Thank you for contacting Steam Support. The information on the Steam Storefront is the only available information at this time. Please refer to the Steam News section for the latest news and updates on upcoming Steam titles and content.' Wow... Last edited by evapour: 03-01-2012 at 10:59 AM. |

I don't see any problem "resorting to mods" since Blue Shift: Unlocked is playable only if you own Blue Shift (it acts as a mod for HL1 but uses the content from Blue Shift files).

Interesting...
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Hl_bs.fgd MAY be the key to the mess. Then again, I wonder if people like the Unlocked dudes have touched this file before... |

Been so long since I played my won versions I couldn't care less. either play with the mod or don't valve ain't going to fix anything going by the disaster that was the engine update for HL2 and that still hasn't been fixed.
