You can't really blame Gearbox, Take-Two knock their door and asked to pack and release that thing. 3D Realms spent 20 to 30 millions to develop the game during during the last 13 years, T2 had to cash-in. Gearbox just polished the game even if the single player was most likely completed, and added multiplayer. Also, this game is not SO bad, at least on PC. I agree it's not great either, but a 5 or 6 out 10 are the scores it should have got. Some e-mags rated the game 2 or 3 out 10, and that's BS. |

Man...I'm always amazed that no matter what crap a company piddles out of their ♥♥♥, there's always a bunch of people who just eat it up. DNF is one of the worst games ever created; a jaw-dropping disappoint. You'd be better off buying the original Duke Nukem 3D, or even Duke 64 and playing with buddies. That is, if you still own a N64. Which you should.

Seriously! Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye, Turok series, Shadowman (props for getting the reference), Zelda: OoT, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Mario 64...so many great games. The Playstation 1 library was incredible too. It was a great time to be a gamer.

This game... Wow just, wow, i beated it in one day without barely rest, i LOVED it, what can i say, i just dont give a crap for the graphics in videogames, and thats the main reason i enjoyed it a lot and i plan in playing it again, theres a lot of hate to this game because of outdated graphics, and it makes me angry that a lot of people says crap about the game without even playing it just because the graphics... Seriously?. Now about the development time, people thinks that because of all the time in development it would be the best fps ever and stuff. But development time doesnt mean a better game, this game had a lot of troubles and still we finally got it.
Also what i liked a lot about this game was, a lot of variation in stages, in one you are in a casino, then in open city, desert, underwater, caves, inside buildings, driving, turrets, etc. In summary, play this game with a open mind, dont give two ♥♥♥♥s about the graphics, dont let yourself get sucked into the graphic-♥♥♥♥♥ generation. Now, about the multiplayer, it feels like a totally different game, it is fun as hell, its so fast paced and its so satisfying to kill other dukes in many different ways, exploding, squashing, melee, snipe, shotty. I gotta admit that the first levels were pretty boring, but from the city level and further, it was lots of funs. Edit: Now that the game was on deal, i wish to see a lot more of people playing multiplayer, its one of the best multiplayer ive played in time. Last edited by Stromblad: 02-02-2012 at 10:29 PM. |

Bought it while it was cheap, and had a few nights worth of fun from it. It's a pretty short game; the entire single-player campaign was about 8 hours and there's not a lot of replay value.
All in all, I'd feel totally ripped off if I'd paid a full retail price for the game, but I don't regret the couple of quid that I parted with. |

So what i'm to understand from all this QQing some of you don't like it when people enjoy themselves or have fun with something you don't have fun with? Like usual everyone foisting off their own crappy opinions as truth.
I like DNF. I like fun. |

1) Removing the console 2) Forcing DNF to have DLC crap 3) Not releasing mod tools (3DR stated many times they will release mod tools for DNF) GBX and 2k are not entirely innocent like some people want to beleive. As for DNF, it's every FPS combined poorly. Tries desperately to be like popular FPS games of today. Most people who like DNF have either jarate poor taste in games or just incredibly low standards. I've played almost every Duke game out there (didn't get Duke it out in D.C.) and hands down the worst Duke games are DNF and Land of the babes. Hopefully the sequel will do better, George brossuard really lost his talent over the years and became a hack. DNF is worth $10 or less (bought it with $5), anything more is just a waste. The single player campaign was fun, and I plan on getting the Doctor DLC if it goes on sale for more than 50% off this weekend.
Yes, the game can't compete with FPS games made in the last couple of years. Then again, this game started production back in the late 90's, and went through several changes because 3D Realms couldn't just pick something and stick to it. However, what is there is still fun, and worth $5-10. Any more than that, though, and you're getting ripped off. So, haven't played this game in a couple of months, so I may or may not be wrong about multiplayer sucking ♥♥♥. My money would be on it still sucking, though. Every game I tried to join, my ping, as well as many others, was through the roof, with maybe one or two people having decent enough ping to actually do anything. Gearbox/2K/somebody REALLY dropped the ball on multiplayer, which is a shame because I usually LOVE Duke Nukem multiplayer. |
