Can't reinstall Portal 2 on the Mac (Steam)
Something went wrong with Portal 2 and it would no longer run so I "deleted local content" and attempted to redownload it. It didn't work and all I got was a "Steam error: Steam servers are busy and cannot handle your request." The thing is they are always busy and it never works.
When I validate the files they still seem to be there even though I've apparently deleted them.. Very confused. All I want to do is delete and reinstall/redownload. How the hell do I do this? Feel like I've tried everything. Any help would be very very much appreciated! Cheers, - Dan |

Okay excellent. I finally figured it out myself.
For anyone else struggling with this issue on the Mac. Go to: Library/Application support/Steam/Common In there should be your games. Delete "Portal 2" (or whichever game you have issue with.) When I did this I still couldn't get any joy so I went back to the Steam folder (the one with "common" in it) and there was a lone file with "portal 2" in the title. Basically just deleted any file I could see that said Portal 2. Then magically after restarting Steam the "install" button now appears as normal when I go to Portal 2 and I can re download as per normal. Yay. |
