fyi there's an easier way; you can use Syncplicity (www.syncplicity.com) and just point to steamapps/smb/userdata

SugarSync (sugarsync.com) also does automatic syncing. I use it for Minecraft.

Updated the link on this, it still works just as well as it did when I posted it. This can be used for other games as well that don't have Steam Cloud support yet.

Thanks a lot for this post! I used it to synchronize Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, and all my Total War games.
I have a question though: I used Junction Link Magic to link all the folders, but what if steam messes with some of those folders in an update, will it not affect the online backup as well? Or does steam never mess with these folders? And how about if I try to uninstall the games via steam, will that not cause all kinds of stuff to break because of the junction points? Because there are a lot of warnings all over the place about that kind of thing. If anyone knows the answers to any of these questions, please do not hesitate to post! |

The particular folders I made the link between will just be updated by Steam if and when there is ever an update to them. The updated files will be backed up just like they were before any update. I'm not sure about Junction Link Magic though.

I'm pretty sure there's no difference between what MKLINK does and what Junction Link Magic does, JLM just does it on other OS's as well, and has a handy UI.
But anyway, how about if I try to uninstall via steam, will that affect or break anything? |
