Not able to find Steam?

I have been able to play JUST FINE. Until I downloaded another game, now it will not allow me to play Jade Empire, it states that it has an error finding steam? Steam is on my PC, everything is the same as it was yesterday. I am so confused I deleted the new game to see if I could solve the problem. Any Advice?

Sorry yes I got it, when I downloaded my KoTOR, it switched my Steam to compatibly mode for Vista, I have 7 so this was my problem, ones I changed it I was finally able to play again.
