Can you play FEAR online?

hi,
just got FEAR complete and it says it's got MP as well.

Now further below it says

Notice: The Multiplayer component of F.E.A.R. is no longer available. This title is Single Player only.

So what's goin on? Rip off?

I've still got it in my inventory so I might just swap with a different game if it doesn't work (MP)...

MP was abandoned. There was a a website, FEAR Combat, in which you could play MP if you had a key, but I believe that is no longer supported either.

It's not a rip off since the store page states that MP is not available.

I figured i would try the website for a key, and it turns out i had already registered for one (must have been a LONG time ago)

It has just resent out the key to my email address

Because, as I've said before, it just doesn't feel enough like the old FEAR. Mainly because of the HUD, I think. Just add a Classic HUD option and me, along with 7 friends, would switch.

FEAR combat isn't already active? As you noticed, the in-game multiplayer of FEAR isn't active, it happened from the launch of FEAR combat

It's active for me. Maybe your firewall is making it appear inactive.
