is Attack value on weapons DPS or damage?

When the game shows you an attack value on a weapon, is the value scaled for weapon speed (ie, a DPS value), or is it simply damage-per-hit?

For example, if two weapons have an attack value of 50, but one is slow and one is fast, will they both do the same DPS?

I'd be inclined to agree with Axhed,(low twenties joat here)
I've tried out the diffrent weapon types and I just cant put down my daggers.Smithed daggers seem to be better than anything you can find (daggerwise)...just saying.

I believe its the raw damage that the weapon will do. go to a fate weaver and dont spend any points then go kill an equal level mob and you should see the damage that do is equal to what the weapon states
