What makes you think they're ignoring it?
They've obviously discussed it before. It is PROBABLY likely that they talk about it when considering new weapon ideas. They just went "Okay, lets not do that. We do not like that." Just because they don't blog about it doesn't mean they don't think about it. |

You could suggest that the shotgun and scattergun have a similar relation. And when giving it decent ramp up for the scout you also get that same relation. Feedback is important. |

It's already in the game. Valve designed the Shortstop to have similar upsides to the Nailgun while still relying on the same skillset as the Scattergun.
