It was actually confirmed to have an activation process using a typical Starforce key format (in that very same thread no less).

Now all that we need to know is what activation limits (if any) there are.

You can ask Steam support if they will refund you (to your credit card ideally, not your Steam wallet) as the store page has no third party DRM warning.

Starforce installs a rootkit that not only hogs system resources, but also opens system vulnerabilities. Not to mention that people dont like installing a rootkit or getting tricked into it by a product they payed for.
