How do I add Medieval II to steam ?

I bought this game when it came out on DVD but I want to add it to steam so I can check out the updates automaticly and all. How do I do that ? I tried to add the game with the "add a non steam game" but all it does is add a shortcut in my game library :S Any help please ? Thank you.

You can't register M2TW retail keys to Steam. If your comfort is worth 2.50€/$, just wait for the next Total War sale.

For future reference, check out the list of retail games that can be activated on Steam.

Unfortunately, M2:TW is not on that list.

I would also recommend waiting until the next Total War sale. I'm pretty sure I picked up my Steam copy of M2:TW for $2.50.
