Need a way to open up Team Fortress 2 materials.gcf
I'm sure you get these kind of posts all the time, but trust me, I need help, and I've done my fair share of searching for a solution.
Anyway, recently, I found out about TF2 skins, and I decided it would be something fun to do to make a unique skin. I read a tutorial, downloaded and installed GCFScape and VTFEdit. However, when attempting to open Team Fortress 2 materials.gcf, I get the following error message: "Could not open: D:\Steam\steamapps\team fortress 2 materials.gcf Error: Corrupt file The file map is not within file bounds." After constant searching throughout the web, it appears that the problem may be that the file I'm trying to open is too large for GCFScape to handle, and thus, it refuses to do so. I have done much searching for a solution, or possibly another program capable of opening .gcf files with no luck. If anyone could recommend a program or has some sort of solution, I would be grateful. My system specs are as follows: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 6GB of RAM 500GB of Hard Disk Space Please, help me. |

Forgive me if I refuse to buy a Mac for this instance.
And how could I copy the skins to a Mac if I could not obtain them from GCFScape on a PC in the first place? |

Whoops!
Wow, I didn't even notice. How did I get here, anyway? I never clicked on Mac when coming to post this. Anyway, I figured out of problem. The tutorial that I used had an extremely outdated link to GCFScape. I got the current version, and it works. This thread can be closed or deleted or....whatever you guys do here. I don't know. |
