Multiple Portal2 serial #'s on one account?
I picked up an extra copy of Portal 2 so me and my kid could play the online co-op with the robots.
Question is, can I install one copy on his pc and the other on mine and register the serial numbers from both those copies of Portal2 onto my one account and will steam let us both log onto the account at the same time to play? Or do I have to make another account with a separate email address? That would be a little inconvenient but I guess I will if I have to... Be nice if games like this would have household license options available where 2 installs can be available. Maybe enforced by recognition of both originating from the households external IP or something.... Whatever, don't wanna turn this into a sharing and piracy topic... so original question: 2 copies on the same account doable? |

no it isn't doable. He would need his own account.
There's a split screen option for co-op on the same game but it's rather inconvenient to enable. |

You will need to purchase it on a separate account. As Pumpkin_Masher said it is possible to activate Portal 2's split screen functionality. Here's the tutorial on it.

You can't have two computers logged into the same account at the same time. This makes the activation of further copies of games you own useless and steam won't let.
Creating a new acount is the easiest option for you. As Pumpkin_Masher said, you can play split screen, but the guide for this is for the more experienced user and it requires a controller. You can find the guide here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1847904 Edit: While i was reading the guide myself i got ninja'd! |

Topic. Back to it.
Leave the bickering to PMs where others are not subjected to it and you aren't derailing the thread. __________________ Nothing to see here |

Easiest way is to create a new account for your kid, and then gift the extra copy you have to them.

1 key per account. If the game supports split-screen, use it. Or find out if it's possible.
Entering your key will not give you a giftable copy. |
