Name of a Map
Hey guys, I've been looking around for ages for a certain map on Team Fortress Classic, which I played ages ago. I'm sure I once found the name and a picture on Google images, but I can't manage to locate it again.
Here is what I know about the name: I think It has "castle" in it. And I think it has "2" in it. It is not however the map "2castles" or "2Fort". It is not a default map, it is a custom map. Here's a detailed description of the map: The map is composed of two bases. One is a giant castle, which is gray, there are many levels to it, and crates all inside. Inside this castle there are strategical placed sentry guns (Those which are normally inside spawn points). To climb up the levels you can find ladders, or a large cylindrical area with a few (2 or three) ladders inside. This castle is only accessible from the ground floor, after jumping on a few crates. The castle itself it divided by a wall which splits the entire map into two battlefields, and runs all the way to the enemy base. After exiting the castle from the front, we are faced with a slope that gently rises upwards. It looks a lot like a scene from the first world war. There are many camouflaged hiding places, and plenty of Barb wire which does damage to you. There are also signs that tell you of explosions, which is true, as scattered around are mines which do quite a bit of damage to you. The slope continues upwards to the enemy base, and this one is smaller. It is mostly under the mountain, and is composed (I believe) of one spawn room with a gun on each side. Leaving this room brings you to a number of barricades to shoot behind on the way downhill. The map is split down the middle and on the other side, the layout is pretty much mirrored again. I seem to remember there being no flags or capture points, it is simply a death-match style map. This map is quite old, and most players new to TFC will not have heard of it. I used to play it quite often, and remember it all vividly except the name. Here's a quick picture I fixed up with paint that is an overview (bird's eye view) of the entire map, directly from above: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7188/6...198ae8df_b.jpg I hope someone can help! |

Sounds a bit like totalwar but of course totalwar has a huge central building dividing the map which I'm sure you would have remembered...
I also remember playing a map where the attackers started on a wartime beach type scenario and had to climb a hill to reach and takeover some pillarboxes and whatnot at the top...What was that called :S ? NVM I found the map I was thinking of...it's tfc_d-day Last edited by MasterBlaster: 02-23-2012 at 03:56 AM. Reason: added more info |

![]() ... Try not to take it so personally. I just highlighted the key info because some people post stuff excluding some details or doesn't thoroughly read the whole post when trying to answer someones question.Anyway, I was planning on making a suggestion after combing through maps on my server 1 by 1 containing the word castle because theres over 12 hundred maps on there so the odds of that map being on there may be quite high. But haven't yet. I've been too busy making 2 new tfc maps at the same time to be even start looking. Btw, Why haven't you been in tfc for soo long? Just curious. Bah, I looked at all the castle maps I have and came up with nothing that matches your description. I did find an O/D castle map that I never seen be for that looked interesting.

In a word TF2, I finally cracked and decided to give in to a more modern take on Team Fortress.I thought I'd hate it but it turns out I quite enjoy it
![]() Also, apologies for my aggresive manner in my earlier post... I was in a ratty mood :S |

2play does not fit the description OP describes. Additionally to that, it's a HLDM map.
Here's a download for 2play: http://goldsrc.org/?sec=files&fileid=2030 |

There's a lot of lost and gone forever TFC maps because of the lack effort to redistribute them publicly. Especially happens when servers with uncommon maps shutdown and delete their HLDS files for good without putting them up on the web. Maps become extinct. For example, when I found out there was a map called dustplate_night there was only 1 server left that had it. I tried to stalk that server in hopes to take that map before that server with the last copy vanishes. But couldn't monitor it 24/7 and failed to get it. Now the server is gone forever and so is that map.
My dad told me he has huge archive of tfc maps so old they would probably be new again somewhere on some old hard drive. Just a matter of getting him to take the time to hunt for it. |
