I'm new: What to buy
Hello!
My friend has been a Magic fan his whole life (playing with cards of course) and I'd like to get him Magic on his computer for his birthday. What do I actually buy to get the game itself and what do i buy to get cards to play with in game? (sorry if it sounds silly but i don't play magic myself) Thanks for any help. |

Question is which version you want to get.
The newer version is 2012 (Dotp 2012; D12). For this you need the base game to play against each other and the Expansion 1 to play 1 vs 3 (you can play 3vs1 ai with the base version). And as you like you can purchase further decks via deck packs. The old version can only purchased as gold edition (base + all expansions) afaik. And there you can't play 2v2 with your friend. But best would be to test the demo(s) first. |

Buy everything from the 2012 version of the game, except the foil conversion and deck unlocks.
Oh, and don't buy the special edition, that's a waste of money |

you might want to aviod the 3rd expansion as well for a bit as it seems to be reather buggy at the moment. But that being said, buy everything else and tell him "Welcome to the game" for us, hope to see him online soon.
