Deus Ex - Error Upon Startup

When starting Deus Ex from my steam library, an error appears that says

Quote:

Failed to find Steam.

and then it closes and opens steam in a new tab on the internet.

Any ideas what is going on?

I tried uninstalling a number of times.

Same thing happens to me, but in a different game: Flatout 2.

Only thing that fixes it (at least for me in Flatout 2) is closing down the Steam Client completely by right clicking the Icon in the system tray and clicking Exit.

Then, re-launch Steam.

Don't know why it does that, but that is what works for me when a game does that and maybe it will work for you with Deus Ex HR.

it happens to me when i launch Hitman series, just run steam as administrator.
