my freinds game crashes everytime almost when its switching maps.otherwise it runs flawless.
i7 2600k
6970 2gb
16g ram...

Software issues probably... updating, reinstalling and repairing components might solve this.

Some guy i play the game with has the same issue, freezes/crashes whenever map changes, and we have no idea why.

Driver issues, plain and simple.

I had the exact same problem, crashed on map change about 80% of the time, completely swept and cleaned ALL AMD/video related drivers - I too have a 6970 - and haven't crashed once on map change since. That was 3 months ago.

A friend of mine fixed it by adjusting the power saving options of secondary hard drives.

What browser does he use? I've had issues with ie and firefox, but chrome seems to work 99% of the time. Also... I know in the past bf games have been finicky with sound. Make sure audio drivers are up to date, and if he's using a sound card try switching to mobo integrated audio if possible.

Its a known issue since the last mini patch a couple of weeks ago. Crashing or continual loading between maps...first map loads fine but after that...well, welcome to a Dice world.
I suggest checking out the Bf3 (Battlelog) forum, numerous threads sprouting off hundreds of solutions that dont work.
But on a brighter note, the devs are aware of the problem, but they are too busy creating DLC to bother fixing it.

Yep i get it as well.
Also get the odd pauses while shooting,that can cost me my death.
ffs they need to fix these probs before the damn dlc's.
