Swap Random Crits with Random Mini-crits

Swap random crits with random mini-crits.
The game becomes more fair while still retaining an element of randomness. Forced crits would be unchanged.

inb4 play-on-nocrit-servers
I don't have a problem with the randomness. It's just that full criticals are too deadly to be randomly deployed, ending a confrontation or killing 3 people in an instant.

Well, it could be a server option with random mini-crits on by default.

I've always felt this should be an option. tf_weapon_criticals should work like this:

0 - No random crits
1 - Random Full Crits
2 - Random mini-crits

It seems like it'd be an easy change that would take no time at all.

I think Yeef's suggestion of tf_weapon_criticals 2 in this case would be the best solution. And probably also turn out to be a very popular one.

Yes, please.

I'd still prefer there to be no roll-of-the-dice involved in combat at all, but random mini-crits would be acceptable.

While random minicrit is unarguably more tame than random crit, I would prefer "random melee crit only" as the new standard.

I like full crits, they make me feel good.

Make it be an option so I never join minicrits / nocrits servers in my life, I don't care.

I like full crits, they make me feel good.

Next, you'll want to turn the Kritzkrieg into the Minikritzkrieg. Then you'll want to nerf all the weapons that give non-random critical hits, because they're too powerful. Then we'll have to nerf all the minicrit weapons, because they're too easy to use compared to the Minikritzkrieg, so we'll have to invent microcrits which do, like, 75% to 110% normal damage. Then you'll petition to turn random minicrits into random microcrits, because random minicrits are too powerful, and so on and so forth until weapons don't do damage any more and the only ways to kill people are Mantread stomps, fall damage, the Short Circuit, and taunt kills.

and why would minicrits on be default setting? why does it deserve to be default more than current crits on or even the nocrit setting?

the game IS fair with the randomcrits. it is only unfair if you're ocd over every single encounter. and in that case, nocrit servers and tf2lobby might be more suited to your preferences than regular pubs.

also, dodging a minicrocket would be complete compared to dodging a crocket.

This thread is about RANDOM critical hits, not CONTROLLED crits. They're both different parts of TF2.

Random mini-crits? Yes. Rockets, normally 70-100, a mini-crit would be 100-140, which is an acceptable spike of chance damage. 200-300 on crit rockets right now is ridiculous. I love this idea.
