(Braid creator) Jonathan Blow is incredible... here's why:
I bought Braid a year or two ago on PS3 and have been in love with it ever since. Its taken that long for my opinion on it to become refined, moving from "one of the best games I've ever played" into "the best game I have ever played". I won't tell you why since I think Braid speaks for itself.
I voiced a less dramatic opinion to Braid's creator Dev, Jonathan Blow. He had his email available on Braid's own site. I explained that I had bought Braid on PSN and enjoyed it thoroughly, but as I'm currently travelling I don't have a console and I'd love to give the game another go. Within 5 minutes he himself replied to me, gifting me a code for Braid through the Humble Indie store. I was flabbergasted. This is exactly the kind of customer service and mind-blowing quality I want everything I love to have. That action simply cemented my faith for the man and his games. The descriptive term he used for explaining Braid's meaning was "something that avoids being looked at directly", an anecdote I find myself using all over the place in every day life. Braid is stunning in its own right but its rare that the mind behind something can also follow through. There's a difference between work and creator, but I don't think this is so in this case. For updates on Jonathan Blow's new game The Witness, his blog is here: http://the-witness.net/news/ For a webcomic co-designed by Braid's artist David Hellman (its definitely worth your time), go here: http://www.alessonislearned.com/archive.php |

The dude is awesome, Braid is the game that made me like indie games and join Steam, it's still the awesomest puzzle I've ever played...

This game made me very depressed.
If you aren't brainy,it spits on you. Not a true game to enjoy like Skyrim where you don't have to worry about puzzles, just enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Braid just didn't do it for me. Only suits a small clique of people. A game for the ones who were blessed with good genes. Puzzle games are boring to me though. I tried Dear Esther and couldn't work it out. well duh. if you don't like puzzle games then you won't like this. expecting otherwise is like going to a restaurant and ordering something you don't like and then complaining about it. this game is for people who actually want to put some thought into a game

@ProudTiger sorry if you've been mislead by all the praise for the game then, most of the time indie games are puzzle-heavy games (Braid, Cogs, LIMBO, Toki Tori) it's because indie developers don't have the capacity to create those huge landscapes and effects you see in big action games made by entire studios of hundred of people whereas this game was made by only one guy...
But for any puzzle fan it's still one of the best games ever made... |

Braid is in my opinion the most intelligent game ever made.
Jonathan Blow is amazing. No question about it. He made a game like no other game with feelings, logical tests and a great story with great gameplay elements. It also has one of the better soundtracks fitting perfectly for this game. And I haven't even mentioned the graphics.. oh Braid is such a treat! Dear Esther is quite not the same.. I like Braid way more than Skyrim actually. Skyrim is too easy and has nothing to challenge you. The world is however amazing. But it just slightly loses grasp of me. |

If I gave you my brain though, you'd hate Braid also.
Too intellectually racist for me. I was contemplating suicide when I played it. That's how low I got playing Braid. Last edited by ProudTiger: 03-08-2012 at 04:45 AM. |

My brain just can't do this. You can't manufacture intelligence if it aint there to begin with. Just be lucky you got the better genes and laugh at us people lol. People like Jonathan Blow do not understand the concept of being dumb because they will never know that feeling. THat hoplessness and darkness and "no way OUt" ♥♥♥♥ thoughts that you get in your mind. Last edited by ProudTiger: 03-08-2012 at 04:50 AM. |
