It`s been suggested before. I think I`ve seen 3 threads on it. (sorry, too lazy to look them up).
But I still like the idea. Using the workshop for a section of "steam client skins" would be great. It would make them easy to find and install, ánd other people will actually figure out stuff like that exists. =p Not everyone strolls around on the forum, or uses Google. And I dunno if Bing can find those skins.

Do you not understand what the workshop is? If so, whats the point of it just being there and not being used? Might aswell put it on here, don't see why people haven't got alot of common sense these days

The workshop would allow not just for a central repository of skins, but also skins which auto update. That's a pretty useful set of functionality. It'd also generate great data on which skins are most popular and so forth, which could potentially help Valve make future UI tweaks.

Was just about to suggest this myself. VALVe have already began extending the workshop to games with Greenlight, I think it would make a lot of sense to allow this to be used for Steam skins as well.

+1 It would certainly be easier trying out and getting new skins.

This is a simple but needed feature. Steam skins on Workshop with auto-update, easy management through UI and rating system. A set of skin tools besides controls "zoo" would be nice. As well as a message, with Steam updates that touch UI, suggesting that skins are out of date and it's maybe better to switch over to a default one.
