Magicka Save games Chapter 1-12

Another point to make is that I completed the game at a friends house on local coop. I then bought the game myself and completed the online coop with a different friend.

So I've completed the game twice yet have no save file on my computer to show for it, I had to start from the very beginning with no spells, it's a bit stupid.

I downloaded the chapter 12 save game and had only 6 crappy spells and no corprealize to actually finish the game with, so that was kinda pointless.

I'd rather not have to rely on dodgy save game .exe editors to provide me with the appropriate save files.

open the campaign.sav in magicka\SaveData with a hexeditor, the second byte is your current chapter - 1, so setting it to 00 puts you in chapter 1, setting it to 01 puts you in chapter 2 etc...

this is for the first saveslot btw. for other slots look for the characters name and go back 0x10 bytes, you should see 010X with X being that saveslots chapter - 1

Any news on this? I can't select the checkpoint and it's really annoying having to do the whole chapter if you have to stop playing for x reason.

So, could you explain, please, WHEN exactly does the game save my progress? I played till the first checkpoint, activated it, quit, now the game prompts me to start from the very beginning - is it ok? Should i play one chapter at a time?

I guess you already figured this out. But yes, only saves after each chapter. (Maybe/Hopefully this is changed to something more convenient in the upcoming patch.)

Stumbled across this. DO NOTE. The game saves at every checkpoint now.

I unzipped the file into the area instructed, but when I open Magicka it's just the same ole.

Anyone know what I could have done wrong?

This thread is over a year old.

I loaded up the game again after about a month and a half of not playing.

My saves are gone.

Good to see things got fixed. /sigh

Instructions on how to use:

NOTE: your existing save games will be wiped if you do this.

1. Unzip the file
2. Choose the chapter you want to load and copy that save file and put it in the folder ....Steam\steamapps\common\magicka\SaveData
3. start the game and voila - the saved game should appear in the 3rd slot.

This is a temporary fix until we get the nasty campaign wiping bug out of the way. Ideally we'll add a mission selector in the future

You've got an issue with the whole existence of this game. If the game doesn't work, don't release it. never buy from this company again. Ever.

they worked just fine for me, i just downloaded and did everything as the first post says
