If you like adventure games, you'll like this one.
Although the time of the point-and-click adventure game has long since passed its prime, I still have a fondness for the genre, especially since I played a lot of them as a kid, particularly the King's Quest series.
How good is this game? Had this game been released back during the heyday of the point-and-click it probably would have been considered a classic of the genre. Game is appropriate for all ages but it sneaks in the kind of innuendo older players will appreciate that will (probably) go over the heads of kids, like many of the jokes in some other games or in 90s kids cartoons, so it's appropriate for all ages in a way that appeals to all ages. Game is essentially PG in content but avoids being childish. Some of the animation seems iffy, but really the art direction is very nice. In terms of enjoyment... well, I have a ton of games on my Steam account and I'm choosing this one over many other son my backlog, so it's got my attention. I'm certainly finding it more enjoyable than Time Gentleman, Please! I've yet to fully play that series but it comes off as massively overrated when compared to this game. Pick it up next time it's on sale--great game to play when you just want to sit back and relax. Last edited by MindlessMachina: 09-14-2011 at 10:09 PM. |

I never played point and click adventure games in there hayday, the only point and click game I really played was 5 days a stranger ( http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/5days/ ) which was an amazing game. Early this year I bought sam and max seasons 1-3, that was really when I started getting into this genre of game. I gotta say Im really enjoying this game as well.
I agree with what you said about the game being for all ages and the gameplay is built for all ages as well with the whole cracker system thats in the game. |

Far from point-and-click adventures being past their prime, the genre is actually now just starting to come into its own. It's always been plagued by a lack of understanding of what makes for a good game, but you're absolutely right when you say that this game would have been considered a good example of the genre had it been released ten years ago: It makes all the same mistakes these sort of games did back then.
Games like the Blackwell and Hector series' show what these games can be if they're done well, and in contrast this game shows why most people ignore adventure games. |
