Rayman Origins Demo Graphics Missing

In the 2nd level of the demo, I can't see the flames coming out of the pipes at all. There are likely other missing graphics but this is the most obvious. Any ideas? The problem makes the game unplayable.

I've read posts from others having this problem too, but so far nobody seems to have an answer.

updated graphics drivers/directx redist? A few basic computer specs might be helpful too.

I have fully updated graphics drivers/directx.

Using XP SP3, E6600, 2gb ram, 7900GS. Another poster has the same problem using a 7600GT.
