Good game for intro to grand strategy?

This genre of game has always interested me but I've always had a bit of a problem with the management aspect of these games. For example, the demo for Hearts of Iron 3 had me completely and utterly swamped with not having a single clue on what to do so I was a bit turned off from the genre.

However, I've been watching someone I'm subscribed to on youtube and the game looks like a blast. There seems to be less micromanagement and more overarching strategy and crisis management than other games of this genre. Maybe he's just been lucky or maybe I'm being naive?

Anyway, I'm more of a 4x player and was wondering if this game would be a good jump in to the genre. Thanks in advance.
