maglomite did you find a solution to this? I have the same problem on my elitebook 8540P. I've tried every new driver I can, and HP support didnt know what else to suggest.

I have a similar problem: splash screen then a black screen and nothing comes after that... the black screen remains until I run task manager (the game appears to be not responding) and have to end the task or process. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I contacted steam support, but their solutions were not helpful...

Hey there, i had this problem with almost all my steam games, i just got the latest 8540p i7. the way i fixed it was to update to Nvidia's beta drivers. even thought there are drivers ahead of the one i currently use, they don't seem to work. So i'm sticking with the older beta. Hope this helps
