For those of you having trouble getting your controllers working with the Steam version of the game, it’s likely because you haven’t disabled the “Mouse Control Player” in the game settings. The issue can be fixed by following the steps below:

To fix this you have to quit out of the game and go in to the front end menu.

Navigate to “Help & Options” > “Settings” > “Game Settings”

In the “Mouse Control Player” option, scroll until it says “Off”

Now the controller will work as expected.

Also, please note that the game only works with Xbox 360 controllers. That said, you might be able to use other game pads and ‘trick’ the game into thinking it’s a 360 pad.

Is the Mouse Control Player panel grayed out? If so, here is the fix:

1) Unplug your 360 controller
2) Mouse Control Player panel will be active now.
3) Scroll to "off"
4) Ignore warning about no input device
5) Reconnect 360 controller

The controller should now work. Hope that helps.

Also make sure you're not in a level while trying to change these settings, you should quit the current game first else the option will be greyed out.

My 360 controller works fine in game, no problems at all, didn't have to fiddle around with plugging/unplugging.
