Able to run Sol Exodus demo now

Looking around at other message boards where people have had issues with running unreal 3 engine games, I came across many supposed fixes, but none seemed to work. Finally came across one fix that worked for me: the .exe located at \Steam\steamapps\common\sol exodus demo\Binaries\Win32\SOLExodus.exe

Right click properties, compatibility tab and check next to windows xp (service pack 3). Hit ok, ran the game again and no longer crashing after the screen goes black. Finally see the logos and then the game itself. Unsure if this has a performance hit on the game or not as I have windows 7 64 bit. So if anyone else out there can't run this game, that should do the trick.
