Rebinding keys Bioshock 1

Apparently I can't bind left ctrl to crouch. Maybe I can do this manually in User.ini or something. Can anyone help?

EDIT: I cannot bind spacebar to anything either. That's just strange, I don't remember having this issue when I played through the first time a couple years ago.

I also am having trouble with crouching. I cannot crouch no matter what key I bind it to, which means I am stuck about 30 mins into Bioshock 2 at a place where I need to crouch to get through. I've tried editing the user config file but to no avail, and I'm no expert in there anyway. If someone could help us out that would be great. It seems like some recent update has messed something up.

I played yesterday and had no issues using crouch (set to space bar) or other key bindings.
What if you put the key bindings in user.ini (and defuser.ini for good measure) and set the file to read only in Windows?

Have you tried deleting the file and letting Bioshock recreate it?
