Ipod database support

I'm taking this idea to a few of the music games out there for one reason. I dual boot and don't have a shared partition for all my music, but i did have an mp3 player that worked as an external hard drive. Untill about 6 monthes ago.

My 5.5 generation Ipod with Rockbox, a custome firmware installed was stolen. It worked just like an external drive i.e the music was organized in a logical way (album artist/album/track - title.mp3) I've tried getting another one used, but it only worked until the warranty expired. I would just get a new 6th generations, but those can't have custom firmware installed.

I've seen media players that are able to play music off of ipods. They must be using a database file from off the hardware. I think it would be great if i could browse through music on my ipod, in game as i would on a media player.
