Serious connection issues in Europe - Page 4

They offered me some standard solutions like reinstalling steam or checking my firewall and stuff like that

TO be honest this hasn't anything to do with our providers as far as I can say.

This is what I wrote to steam support:

I tried this solution but I don't feel it has the desired effect.

The issue i described above happens prevasively across all european customers that I can think of (and who are my friends). L4D (2) match making seems to be lagging especially bad in the evening gmt 17-20h (in the evening). The following happens

1. Friend A (download regio belgium) makes a lobby
2. friend B (regio holland) tries to connect to the lobby but gets the message "session no longer available"
friend C from Germany can join player B but player A can't join that lobby.
If friend C makes a lobby and friends A and B connect to that one (Regio germany lobby) then it might work after play A tries 3 times to connect.

EVen when player B would decide to recreate a lobby and searches a server immediately, that user can't be joined by users who are friends with he message "session no longer available" but after a while publics can join in. But it takes a very long time for this to happen.

The lobby system for EUropeans seem to work as desired during day time GMT 8-17 h)

TO be honest, I have internet which is 90% beter than anything else speedtest.net has gathered, I have no other problems but since this steam update of last week (of march 2012) this l4d1/2 match making seems like it is being hosted from a crappy line which can't handle much traffic. I have no other problems like this.

It could maybe be that my provider (telenet) is somehow screwing it up as well, I would have to ask them. But there is most definitely something which isn't a crappy firewall or virus scanner at my end, because several users report this on the steam forums.

We have good connections on dedicted servers. If we are 4 friends and we join a l4d server via the connect <ip> command, literally bypassing the match making system: we can all connect, there is no lobby reservation and this fragmented lobby connect lag between friends isn't an issue.

I hope you guys can sort out the problem.

Hey everyone, we are still digging into the issue. I have some good reports from people on this thread with the issue but haven't been able pin down the cause, we are still working on it. Thanks for your patience.

Yesterday, shortly after my post, I was able to see more games than ever before...

Haven't tried afterwards any more

I didn't see the message about pinging matchmaking servers.

I could do a continuous ping or traceroute this weekend to see where the troublesome hub is for my side if the problems occur.

It's mostly when everyone is playing it seems to tax a connection between me and/or the server itself .

Can anyone send me the servers to ping for regio Belgium and Holland ?

I'm already happy to see that they're working on it. At laest we know it'll be fixed eventually.

Well we're only doing what we can do, which is what you tell us to do to help you guys. Maybe the community can speed things up.
