Quick question regarding a tactic I've seen
Hello, everyone. I'm a long time pub player, planning to try to get into comp play sometime soon. I've been reading various strategy guides and watching gameplay videos to prepare, and one thing I occasionally see is people constantly switching between weapons while out of combat (mostly while running from spawn to the front lines). By this, I mean at least once per second they'll switch weapons, not even allowing their last choice to be fully pulled out before swapping back again. Why is this done? Is it just a random habit of some players while on their way to fight, or does it serve some tactical purpose?

It's partly to check that the secondary is loaded, partly random habit that people have.

It's a way of wasting time, mainly. It also makes it easier to double-check everything's loaded, as Theyleon said.

Keeps you focused, and mostly a random habit. Some players switch to their melee when running as it's an old habit from Counter-strike when you ran faster with your knife.

I do it out of habit. Constantly switch weapons when nothing is going on.

Some people do it so they know that their "q" will take them to the correct weapon. But yeah doesn't mean much.

It holds my interest slightly more. When you get in to a game you become really focused but you also get pretty ADD in the process. Switching and changing something is just slightly more interesting to do.

Mostly out of habit. However when you do not have viewmodels on it helps to verify that you are using what you think you are using. Rocket jumping with shotgun is a pretty big fail

I switch simply to check if my secondary is loaded.
BTW How can people have problems with forgetting which weapon do they have without viewmodels? Weird 0.o |
