Cliffs of Dover tech problems

So I recently got this game, and I can't even play it. Heres my problem. Game launches fine, but you first see a problem when looking at the plane selection, as there is no preview like its supposed to. Ok I can deal with no preview, but then I load a mission. It loads fine, but then I hit fly and it alt tabs me. When I press escape, it comes right back up in the escape menu. I can hear the plane running when it alt tabs me. Here are my specs

Alienware M11x R1:
Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 (OCed to 1.7 Ghz)
8GB DDR3 - 1333(I believe)MHz RAM
11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p) LCD
1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M discrete video
Mobile Intel GS45 Chipset
Intel 4500HD onboard video

any suggestions?

By the look of it you might be low on the GPU. 1st of all you should make sure that the Intel 4500HD is not active when launching, make sure you use the GT 335M.

Secondly try forcing the game to launch in window mode. Go to Steam Library --> Right click IL2 COD --> Properties --> Launch properties and type -windowed

Try that. As for the actual game: in my opinion its NOT worth it! I have a much more powerful system and the game still preforms very very poor. Its plagued with bugs and glitches and the patches the developers promised have not been up to the standards. They fix 1 thing and break 3 other things.

It was a promising WWII air combat sim, but turned out to be rushed, over complicated and bugged. None the less maybe in 2-3 years we will see an improvement and the bugs fixed.

as weird as it is, right before you posted the problem fixed it self. Now I just need to figure out the controls. My joystick seems to not like the game. Thanks anyway

Never have I found a WW2 Flight sim to be this bad, it doesn't seem to accept a joystick at all,and as for ALL the other problems, makes me wish for the old days of European Air War, at least that worked.
