Angry The witcher for mac blocks a lot

I have just bought the witcher enhanced edition for the mac.
However when I start the game at first sight there is no problem the intro plays and the menu too but when the actual game begins it blocks after the first loading screen of Kaer Morhen with this error: "program error: the program witcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close caused by program or deficiency in wine". I actually got a little further than that today but it still blocks a lot especially when it is loading new areas and always at the same moments. Now I can't play further again because I can't exit the tavern. What do I have to do so I can actually play my game without getting a lot of frustration? It seems it is a problem with the conversion from windows to mac because the error message is windows like.

I haven't had problems with the mac version, except I can't find the bonus content. Have a 2008 Mac Book Pro on Lion.

I have this issue (nondescript, as it is.)

I've submitted support requests to CD Project Red, but haven't heard anything back.

Wow those our bang up specs! Should run like silk.

I have a MacBook Pro 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB Ram and 512MB Nvidia card.
Frame rate and loading seems acceptable and cut scenes studder a little. Not messed with the settings at all. Graphics look better then I was expecting for a old-ish game.

I doubt you want to hear this, but maybe you want to play this through boot camp till you get some answers. It is the first week of release and ports are bound to have issues on some machines.

About 1.5 hrs in. I'll update if things get worse for me.

I have this problem too.
Verify your game files and it should run smoothly for that day.
Then the next day it'll up again. And you'll have to do it again.
At least that's what I've been doing and I got to play for 5 hours last night after verifying the files without an error. Then I got on today and it was like "nope you" so I had to do it again.

Well actually it seems to really really really hate leaving the Hospital.
Now that I've reverified those files it hasn't been doing that except when I leave the hospital.

I'm having the same problem.

From the error dialog I'm getting (it tells me to look for help at http://appdb.winehq.org/) it's clear that this is not fresh port of Witcher to the Mac, but a Wine wrapper around the PC application. According to the Wine website, this is a problematic adaptation at best.

Frankly, I'm very disappointed. Caveat emptor and all that, but I'm not likely to be purchasing any more games from Steam if this is their level of quality control.

At the very least I'll be a lot more wary of buying ports from them in the future unless they fix this, and quick.

The big question is does it run perfectly EXCEPT for these kinds of crashes? Cause that seems to be the majority issue here. Though some people have complained about it being slower on higher settings but from what I can tell those are 2008-10 comps.
