Steam Abusive invites are getting out of control.

I hate getting invites on Youtube, Facebook, Google+ etc. etc. I even hate receiving email from someone i don't know! I guess I should stop using the internets!

LOL, reading through ur things. until someone point out you have a female name, i didnt even bother to look at ur username. With a gender neutral name definitly lower invite from actual players, but group is different.

May i suggest Heaven Avenger. ROFL, just a suggestion

then i read later post: you have a not female name. then oh well. it is possible you used voice chat.

I guess it is because your name starts with an A. Simple as that. My name starts with S and I rarely get invite spam .

There is a site where you can check who have most steam games I think, you would be pretty high on that list and naturally people would try to get free games from you. Second, you are an admin of a group with 8000 people, people often go for popular people.

Same thing happen with a live video of a youtube group when they saw one dudes steam name and suddenly he just kept getting invite after invite. About 15000 people watched I think. People just wanna hang around with people who have high status to have something to brag about.

This is certainly fair comment.

Either way, whatever the reason, there's little I feel that could be done to stop the spam without them changing their desired habits on here. So, I guess in the short-term at least, the acceptable thing is to follow some of the advice offered herein, whether it be going through your friends list, etc and culling or just creating a utility to mediate for you.

Not a problem in steam. I get tons of invites too, it takes not long to just decline them. If you still see this as a problem, the solution has been suggested, private profile.

Personally lately I didnt got AS much invites so it doesnt really annoy me

This is really wierd. I am looking for new friends to do some team/co-op stuff, sec isnt an issue and if they prepared to have a laugh in PM then I am up for anything lol. I am a refugee from wow so all my online pals are in that. HAHA, may I shopuld change my name to "Stocking Top Soggy Knickers" or something :P

Bit late to this post really.

First of all could be due to your Display picture maybe?

Also i can't see the issue of making your profile Friends only/ Private though, just don't want to doesn't seem like a good excuse to me, same as others have said about sliming down your friends/ group pages you belong to as would make it a lot easier for you.
