Missle or Thrown weapons for rogue
I have a party of human(melee, sword and armor), minotaur (warrior, unarmored and armor), insectoid (mage, fire and staff) and finally human(rogue, assassin and missle). the first weapons you get as rogue are shuriken(hidden very close) and throwing daggers. I haven't tested out bow and arrow, but from thrown weapons, you can pic them back up (but from the skill tree it seems as if it is strength build.. bonuses on strength, while the missile tree is bonuses on dex). Can you pick up arrows or they gone forever after use?

with my rogue I use dagger in one hand (having the assasination perk that lets you do melee attacks from the rear rank)
and throwing knives / bombs / shruiken in the other nice to have the options |

When will you get bow by the way? Have not seen one and I'm at level 4.

If you don't find it on lvl 3, you'll find it on a wall pedestal on level 4 or 5. It's better to backtrack to level 3 though and look for it.

on level 4 i think you find a crossbow with a lot of power...on 5 you find a fist-dagger which is quite nice and some flaming arrows for the bow... unfortunatly i dont have a rogue...and i never find an axe for my cow
and you find hardly stuff for your mages...(i have 2 mages and 2 warriors...didnt really see the use for rogues) |

there is a powerful battlaxe when you finish level five and stay to kill all the enemies instead of fleeing to next level. it is hard, but if you fight while backtracking to level 3 it is not bad, all about the marathon not sprint. (i used all my fire, poison and ice bombs).

Depends if you are planing to use melee weapons too. Either from the front row or back row.
(As an reminder. Rouges can unlock a skill to attack with melee weapons from the rear row.) In that case you want to go with throw weapons. They only occupy one weapon slot with allows to carry a dagger in your other hand at the same time. If you instead want to use ranged attack excursively go with missile weapons (bow, crossbows). You equip the weapon in one slot and the arrows/bolts of your choice in the other hand. With missile weapons you can completely neglect dexterity. All ranged attack have a 100% hit change. Instead focus on strength as it give a damage bonus to all physical attacks. (Minotaur rogue with maxed Str. is the best ranged build) However dexterity is important if you want make a front row rogue or you're going to use melee weapons from the rear. Dexterity affect your hit chance with melee weapons and your chance to evade melee attacks. Rogues depends for their defense rather on evade (avoid getting hit completely) than heavy armor (protection absorb damage but penalties evade). |
